Whiskey Washback is a whisky festival bringing together distilleries, tastings, and cultural events across several major cities in the United States.

We developed the visual identity for the festival by designing a system that reflects both the heritage of whisky culture and the contemporary energy of its events. The identity was designed to evolve across cities and editions while maintaining a strong and recognisable presence.

The graphic language combines bold typographic compositions with a more atmospheric approach, inspired by the rituals and codes associated with the world of whisky. A crest was developed from the letter W, using the typeface Thorowgood Grotesque Dimensional, whose treatment gives the mark a strong sense of relief. This effect is achieved through a play of contrasts and internal cuts that suggest a light source and an almost sculpted materiality.

The result is a flexible and immersive visual system, designed to support Whiskey Washback as a contemporary platform at the intersection of spirits, culture, and live experience.
